Social services; transfer Medicaid coverage for foster children from managed care to fee-for-service
A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Article 7 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to medical assistance generally, so as to transfer Medicaid coverage for foster children from managed care to fee-for-service; to provide for definitions; to provide for submission of state plan amendments if necessary; to provide for automatic repeal; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
Would move Medicaid coverage for children in foster care from managed care (Georgia Families 360°) to fee-for-service Medicaid when current contracts expire. While fee-for-service would give direct access to any Medicaid provider, managed care currently provides care coordination services that fee-for-service does not, which could lead to fragmented care if the transition does not address how to maintain care coordination.
Did not cross over in 2025 session.
